Divvy Glossary

Admin - Admins are at the top of the Divvy Hierarchy. They have the ability to create budgets, add employees, and change company preferences.

Auto close - We know you’re smart, but we all forget sometimes. The Auto-close feature makes it possible for a budget to automatically expire on a specific date. You wouldn’t want your Spenders to have access to the Marketing Conference Budget months after it took place, would you?

Budgets- Budgets are created by Divvy Admins. They will choose an Owner for each budget. The Owner will then allocate funds to Spenders. This makes it impossible to overspend!

Budget Expiration Date - This lets you know how long the budget will last. After this date, the funds within the budget will not be available.

Categories- Before you swipe your card or make an online purchase, select a category. Categorizing your purchases allows you to see exactly where your money is going in real-time.

Online Cards- Yes, they are real! Online card technology allows you to generate as many card numbers as you want. Use these cards for online purchases. That way if some crazy hacker steals your payment information from Amazon, then you only need to cancel that one card that you created for that one account. If we were still doing it the old-fashioned way, you would have to cancel the card you use for everything. Imagine having to update your card information for Netflix, Dropbox, Slack, etc. Time is money! So, I guess we are giving you money...

Owners - Owners are smack dab in the middle of the Divvy Hierarchy. Admins give them ownership over budgets. With these budgets, they have the ability to send funds to Spenders. They can also approve or deny requests that are sent to them.

Physical Card- These are the smartest cards on the market. Each card syncs with the Divvy App in order to gain access to funds, categorize purchases and spend proactively. Feel free to use them domestically or internationally. World traveler, you.

Recurring Budgets - In a business, many things repeat themselves. Instead of having to make the same budgets over and over again. Simply make a recurring budget. Maybe you buy your employees lunch each day. Set the budget to recur daily and you won’t have to worry about giving out money every day. Do the same thing for weekly, yearly, or any other amount of time.

Request Funds - As a Spender, you can request money from the Owner of a budget. If your request is approved, you will have access to that amount of money within the budget.

Send Funds - As an Owner, you have the ability to allocate funds from a budget to a Spender. This spender will only have access to the funds allocated. Not the entire budget. Thank goodness.

Spenders- While Spenders are at the bottom of the Divvy Hierarchy, we still love them. These people actually get to spend the money. They can receive funds in two different ways. Either the Owner of the budget will send them funds, or the Spender can request funds from the Owner. It will be up to the Owner whether or not these funds are approved.

Subscriptions - With so many amazing products out there, we tend to subscribe to a lot of important things. Track all your subscriptions in one place. Just simply pay with a virtual card and indicate it as a subscription. If you decide you want to cancel a subscription later just simply cancel the card. They can’t charge a card that doesn't exist.
